Objective
Seeks high current interest income exempt from federal income tax via medium- and lower-grade national municipal obligations.
Strategy
Actively manages a national municipal-bond portfolio, investing at least 80% of net assets in municipal securities whose income is exempt from federal income tax — primarily medium- and lower-grade (high-yield) issues. Holds bonds across maturities with a dollar-weighted average effective maturity between 5 and 30 years, including revenue, general obligation, insured municipal, private activity bonds, leases, and certificates of participation. May concentrate in market segments when supply elsewhere is unsuitable; not an index fund.
